Welcome Aboard

Here I am, on the precipice of something new. A step in the direction towards the rest of my life. This is where it all comes together, and everything begins to mean something.

On that somewhat life-affirming (or at least blog-affirming) line, I would like to welcome you to this little project that I've decided to undertake. Here's the short version of what is going on here: My name is Bryan and I have a B.A. in Speech Communication from Wayne State University. I am currently a student in the MA in Communication Studies program at WSU. I've always been interested in the way that people interact with each other (partially the reason I find myself hopelessly fixated on Lost). Along with that, I also enjoy spending my time on the internet and playing video games.

I'm hoping by now, you're beginning to see what I'm hinting towards. If you guessed that I am interested in studying interpersonal communication through internet technologies and video games, I'd dare say that you hit the nail on the head. The world of game culture is a fledgling field, by academic standards, and as our technologies advance, so will our world of gaming. While I'm only in my first semester of my program, I have decided to begin building my body of work and my social network on the topic through a blog.

I'll also interject with my ideas on games, books, and the various facets that make up the culture of gaming. On top of all that, I'm open to expanding this blog to other writers with similar goals as well, so if you are interested and qualified, please do not hesitate to contact me.

What's important, however, is that I'm putting my thoughts on this subject on to the internet for others to react to. There's no better way to expand your horizons than through intelligent discussion between people with similar ideas. Please, always feel free to chime in.

Thanks in advance,
Bryan
